Day 1 Recap of Boston Calling 2024

The Harvard Athletic Complex was once again filled with excitement as the Boston Calling festival kicked off on a sunny Friday, May 24. The festival featured four stages, with the Green and Red stages being the main ones followed by the Blue Stage and the smaller Orange Stage featuring local acts.

The day started with singer-songwriter Maris giving a high-energy performance on the Blue Stage, engaging the crowd with her music and choreographed dance moves. Next up was Luke Hemmings from the band 5 Seconds of Summer, who had the audience screaming with excitement during his set on the Green Stage.

David Kushner took the Red Stage next, captivating the audience with his soulful sound and emotional lyrics, showcasing his depth as a performer. Reneé Rapp followed with a powerful and energetic performance, charming the crowd with her stage presence and fan interaction.

Leon Bridges delivered a blues-rock performance filled with emotional songs that resonated with the audience, showcasing his talent and passion for storytelling. Young the Giant closed out the Blue Stage with a great show, marking their return to Boston Calling after 11 years.

The night ended with the highly anticipated performance by Ed Sheeran, who impressed the crowd with his solo act using looping pedals to create dynamic backing tracks live on stage. Sheeran’s authenticity and musical prowess shone through as he performed hit after hit, leaving the audience in awe of his talent and artistry. His humility and gratitude towards his fans were evident throughout his two-hour set, making him a standout headliner of the festival.
