“Hazel Health was founded upon the belief that all children deserve access to quality healthcare in order to excel – a mission that has become even more crucial with the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Josh Golomb, CEO at Hazel Health.

Hazel Health, the national leader in school-based healthcare, announces the release of essential COVID-19 tools that enable school district officials to reopen schools as safely as possible and meet local health regulations. The availability of the new tools comes at a time when more schools are reopening and COVID-19 cases are surging in the U.S.

Hazel Health’s COVID-19 safety tools include:

  • COVID-19 Screener: To support district health protocols, the COVID-19 screener enables parents to check and confirm symptoms their child may be experiencing before the child enters a school environment. On-demand visits are also available through the screener to address parents’ questions and concerns. Hazel Health designed the screener with ease of access and multilingual communities in mind.
  • Exposure Alert: As schools are notified of COVID-19 cases, Hazel Health’s Exposure Alert helps identify all students and staff exposed to each confirmed case and provides support and next steps for students. Notifications of positive cases are delivered instantaneously to district officials, enabling rapid response at the school and district level. Exposure Alert syncs with class schedule data from Clever to provide actionable information for campus safety.

“Hazel Health was founded upon the belief that all children deserve access to quality healthcare in order to excel – a mission that has become even more crucial with the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Josh Golomb, CEO at Hazel Health. “Inspiration for our new COVID-19 safety tools came directly from the education leaders we work with every day. Our goal is to support a safe and healthy learning environment and ensure healthcare for all students, in all communities, regardless of financial or immigration status.”

Through a secure, web-based platform, school nurses or parents at home can access Hazel Health from any device to coordinate care for students and request telehealth appointments with Hazel’s HIPAA and FERPA trained, board-certified healthcare providers.

“As we navigate the fluctuation of in-person and online learning, we’re thrilled to partner with Hazel Health and leverage their COVID-19 safety tools so we can provide a safe learning environment for students,” said Bridget Phillips, Chief Academic and Operations Officer, The Doral Academy of Nevada, a part of the Academia network of charter schools. “We were previously using Google Sheets to track symptoms, and had to manually comb through information – with Hazel Health’s system, there is proactive reporting which saves time and enables students to receive telehealth care sooner if there’s a potential positive.”

Hazel Health’s COVID-19 safety tools are HIPAA and FERPA compliant, with sensitive health data remaining within the secure platform. To learn more, please visit https://get.hazel.co/covid19.
