COVID-19 on Vancouver Island: Health officials to provide preliminary update

B.C. health officials are expected to outline data on new COVID-19 cases identified in the province over the past 24 hours on Tuesday afternoon.

The update is expected to be released as a written statement after 3 p.m.

On Monday, health officials announced that 6,288 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in B.C. over a 72-hour period, with 2,552 cases confirmed Saturday, 2,023 identified Sunday and 1,713 confirmed Monday.

Of those cases, 737 were identified in the Island Health region.

The province did not release details on COVID-19-related deaths, hospitalizations, or other relevant information Monday.

Regular COVID-19 updates are expected to resume Wednesday, health officials said.
