SAINT JOHN — New Brunswick’s provincial budget includes no details about the future of Cannabis NB but the province’s finance minister says a decision about its potential privatization is coming soon.
“I’m not going to comment on Cannabis NB other than to say Cannabis NB will be coming up in cabinet this Thursday,” said Finance Minister Ernie Steeves in Fredericton on Tuesday.
“I would suggest that shortly after that you’ll get a sense of what’s happening.”
The provincial government has made moves to privatize the crown corporation. In January 2020 the province announced eight proposals had been received, following a request for proposals to operate, distribute, and sell recreational cannabis in the province.
